How Somatic Healing Works: Releasing What's Frozen Within
Your body has been keeping score. It's time to let it speak.

The mind and body are not separate systems. Trauma, grief, stress, and unprocessed emotion don't just live in our thoughts — they live in our tissue, our posture, our breath, our nervous system. Somatic healing is the practice of working with the body to release what the mind alone cannot resolve.
The word "somatic" comes from the Greek *soma*, meaning body. Somatic healing recognizes that the body holds memory — often long after the conscious mind has moved on, or believes it has. This is why you can understand something intellectually and still feel it in your chest. This is why a certain tone of voice, a particular smell, or an unexpected moment can activate a response that bypasses rational thought entirely.
The Body Doesn't Lie
When we experience something overwhelming — fear, grief, shame, betrayal — the nervous system responds to protect us. Sometimes that protection comes in the form of tension, contraction, numbness, or dissociation. In the moment, this is adaptive. It helps us survive. But when those protective responses become chronic, they keep us locked in a state that no longer serves us.
Somatic healing creates the conditions for the nervous system to safely complete what it couldn't finish in the original moment. This isn't about reliving trauma. It's about gently, slowly, allowing the body to release the charge it has been holding.
What Somatic Work Looks Like
In practice, somatic healing might involve breath awareness, noticing physical sensations without trying to change them, gentle movement, grounding practices, or intentional touch of specific areas of tension. It looks different for every person and every session.
What is consistent is the orientation: we are not trying to fix you. We are creating a space in which your body can return to its natural state of regulation and ease. The body already knows how to heal. The work is in removing what is blocking that process.
Somatic Healing Within Soul Strategy
In the context of Soul Strategy work, somatic healing is integrated as one of several modalities — not a standalone technique but part of a whole-person approach. When somatic work is paired with intuitive coaching, journaling, and spiritual grounding, the results are often profound and lasting.
Many people describe the experience as releasing a weight they didn't fully realize they were carrying.
If your body has been holding something that words haven't been able to reach, it may be time to work at that level. Reach out to learn how somatic healing might fit into your journey.
